September & October Empties

Friday, October 12, 2012
Every month I save all my "trash" or empty products so that I can review them with you and tell you if I LOVE or HATE the products! It is a great way to review and talk about makeup, skincare, haircare and body products that I used up and share my experience with each of them and whether or not I would repurchase them.

This is one of my favorite videos to film and watch!! It also is extremely satisfying seeing all the products I have finished so I feel like I am actually USING the products that I own.

If you don't do this already I encourage you to set aside a little box or bag to put in your empty products so each month you can see what you used up and what was worth the money and what products you could live without!! It is a great way to see what type of products you go through and how often you use up certain products. I seem to go through A LOT of Hair and Body care products but makeup not so much...it is probably because I have too much makeup that I try to recycle through so that I share the love with my whole collection.

If you want to see the products I used up in September & October and if I would repurchase them then don't forget to check out my video below!!!

beauty on a budget: fun and flirty

Sunday, August 19, 2012
Yay! Another back to school looking using some fun colors!!! I LOVE COLOR!!! Especially purple! I think that is one of my favorites shades to wear! I wanted to create a look that is a little bit more "bold" for back to school for those that love to be a bit more bold! It again is a super EASY and quick look but is really beautiful and will flatter ANY eye color!!!

I am again using the Wet N Wild Color Icon Palettes but this is the Petal Pusher Palette. I love this palette because it has some beautiful purple and pinky shades that are pigmented and very blendable. My best tip when using these shadows is to not blend too much otherwise you will blend them to nothing!!!

I hope you enjoy this tutorial!!!!

Simple Back To School Look on a Budget

Saturday, August 18, 2012

It is about that time again for back to school videos!!! Although it has been YEARS since I have actually been back to school I found this to be a great opportunity to think back to what I would have worn when I was in high school or college. Now don't think that you have to be going to school to wear this look! This is a great work look also just an everyday face!

All the products used were from the drugstore which is even better! Who doesn't love beauty on a budget!!!! I find that the Wet N Wild palettes are some of the best eye shadows that the drugstore offers! They are extremely inexpensive as well as HIGHLY pigmented!!! The Vanity Palette is one of my all time favorites from the Wet N Wild Line!!!

Also how can you forget about the amazing Maybeline 24 hour Color Tattoos!!! I have found Bad to the Bronze is one of my most used eye shadow bases!!!

A BLOG MAKEOVER

Sunday, August 12, 2012
I can't believe it has been so long since I wrote a blog post!!! I think a large part of it was due to the fact that I wasn't proud of my blog. I am in no way "blog/layout/website" savvy so I had no clue where to start. Thanks to one of my amazing friends on Youtube, Wendy aka bentleyblonde, she referred me to the amazing Jenn Staz (www.jennstaz.com). She was so easy to work with and I gave her two words to describe what I wanted "Shabby Chic." With those 2 words she created a blog design that was better than I could have ever imagined!!! I am finally so PROUD of my blog that I actually want to write in it and keep up with it!!!!

Another friend of mine Anna from www.askannamoseley.com gave me the great advise to "Be Consistent." That when people subscribe to your blog they start to build a routine out of reading your new posts and start to expect your posts the same days every week. This was great advice as I am fairly consistent with my YouTube videos (Post about every other day to every 2 days) but my blog on the other hand...well I think that is pretty obvious what happened there.

I feel blessed to have amazing people in my life with amazing talents and advice on how to be successful and make your blog followers, youtube subscribers, etc happy.

Well here is my first post on my NEW and IMPROVED Shadesofkassie blog! So welcome and expect more frequent posts!!!!!!!

Makeup Basket

I know I am so bad at this blogging thing!!!! I don't know why I find it so difficult to keep up on and I just noticed I haven't updated it since December!! Bad Kassie!!! I am making a promise to get better at blogging and posting swatches on here as I know it is sometimes difficult to see them in videos!!!

So as my first post back on the bandwagon here is the video I posted the other day of products I used this week. I got this idea from an amazing girl I found here on youtube named Kristinn aka MsKristinn321 on YouTube. She posts weekly videos of products she is going to use for that week. The purpose of the makeup basket is to rotate your makeup out so you aren't using the same products all the time and so you can show some love to the products that have been neglected for far too long. It is so easy to push makeup aside when we add to our collection and we end up forgetting about all the great products we previously loved!! This will be my second week doing this and I have to admit I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this concept! It has really helped me to rediscover my collection and shop my stash. It is also exciting picking out which blush, eyeshadows, mascaras to use for the week as well! It is sort of like shopping without spending any money because I am "shopping my stash."

I will be doing these videos weekly (towards the end of the week) so I can give mini reviews of what worked, what didn't, combos I enjoyed, etc.

Follow me along in this new journey and I challenge all of you to do the same!!!
